Complex numbers in real life

The Joke

Axiom

Let $x$ be the number of girlfriends that a (theoretical) physicist has ever had in his life.

$x \in \mathbb{C}$, i.e. $x = Re (x) + i Im (x)$

where $Re(x)$ is a positive integer, not greater than 2 and $Im (x)$ is large, unbounded from above, integer, exponentially increasing.
